I agree, it's a fantastic film! Another Georgian great is Pirosmani, directed by Georgi Shengelaia. See that one

Yes! I saw Pirosmani in a film class many years ago. More traditionally narrative than Pomegranates but I do recall a similar fantastical mise-en-scène approach and great tonal quality. I shall revisit it as I have just noticed it is available on my fabulous Kanopy service.
